RECESSED INSTALLATION
GUIDANCE

  • Easy and quick installation
  • Fitted at same time as Entrance Flooring Systems
  • No templating or pre-visits required as all cut to size on installation
The Frontrunner Entrance Flooring System uses a simple but effective framing method, which is installed at the same time as the entrance flooring. As the Frontrunner Entrance Flooring Systems are supplied in rolls or panels, the installation is quick and easy and does not require any templating. Previous visits to site for fitting the matwell frame when the floor slab is poured are also not required.

Framing Requirements

'u' Frames - Used in areas of traffic movement. Same height as the Frontrunner Grid, which ensures a level, smooth and quiet
transition across entrance system.
'r' Frames - Used on left and right extremities of well to cap and secure ends.
't' Frames (optional) - Used as dividers for large left to right panels, to ease removal of panel for seasonal maintenance of
matwells. 't' frames are positioned outside of traffic areas i.e. in line with doorposts or columns.

Matwell Requirements
The recessed well should be to a depth of 14mm* from the finished floor level. It should have a level and sound base. free from any obstructions. If required, use a self-levelling latex screed to bring base of matwell up to required overall depth.

Installing Framing & Entrance Flooring System
Detailed installation instructions are supplied with each delivery. The simplicity of Frontrunner Entrance Flooring System allows it to be installed by any competent building tradesman It is also advisable to install the Entrance Flooring System as one of the final jobs before handover, to reduce soiling or damage from other heavy building processes.

Framing
Frames are secured using screws and plugs supplied with the system When completed the 'r' frames cap and further secure the matting and 'u' frames.
Entrance Flooring Systems
The matting will be supplied either in rolls or pre-cut panels (supplied slightly over size) to allow for final trimming and fitting on site. This allows for any slight variations in the matwell size from design drawing, through to actual construction.
Once cut to size, the panels of Frontrunner are positioned in the matwell. The flexible PVC grid facilitates the snug fitting under the 'r' profiles.

MAINTENANCE & CLEANING

  • One piece flexible panels for easy removal and repositioning.

  • No specialist cleaning necessary if maintained as part of the regular routine.

Volume & Type of Traffic
The following cleaning and maintenance procedures are recommended to ensure the product maintains its desired appearance and effective performance, as well as ensuring a long life span for the product The cleaning regime will depend on traffic volume over the entrance system, together with the level of soil in areas prior to the entrance. If the entrance system is allowed to become saturated with dirt and debris it will prove more difficult to restore. Regular cleaning appropriate to soiling is therefore recommended.

Daily Cleaning
Vacuum with an industrial cleaner, preferably using a driven brush to agitate the pile of the absorbent inserts. Should stones, salt particles or other solid matter become embedded between the surface ribs, remove using a blunt instrument (screwdriver) or similar device.

Chewing Gum & Stain Removal
In addition to daily routine above, it's important to remove chewing gum deposits and stains as they appear Failure to keep up regular gum removal may attract further deposits.

Weekly Cleaning
Either; Manual Dry Cleaning - Clean the top surface using a long handed deck scrub or similar brush that will not leave fibres on the mat. Be sure to scrub in both directions to clean the top ribs as well as the tread surface of the PVC grid. Apply a "Dry method" cleaning compound to surface of mat Brush and agitate compound in all areas of mat until compound is fully absorbed. If possible leave for 30 minutes then vacuum and brush until all compound is removed.

Machine Wet Cleaning
Follow cleaning instructions for machine used. A cylindrical brush machine is seen to give the best results. Initially work in direction of top ribs then across the ribs to complete cleaning. Where a cylindrical brush machine is not available equally good results can be achieved using a high-pressure water extraction process. In areas of abundant salt build up, apply a pre soak solution of vinegar and water (1 :20 mix) to the surface prior to machine cleaning.

Matwell Cleaning
1. Depending on the density of traffic and level of soiling, it may become necessary to effect a thorough cleaning of the
Frontrunner Entrance System and the recessed well.
2. Carefully lift and remove each section of Frontrunner Entrance System one at a time. Roll up and tag each mat section to
identify its location and orientation in the mat recess. It is very important that care is taken not to stretch the sections of
    matting during removal.
3. Start from the centre of the installation and use a blunt the sections of the instrument (screwdriver) or similar too to lift mat.
4. Once all of the Frontrunner sections have been removed vacuum/sweep the recess thoroughly, ensuring to pick up all stones
    or grit particles.
5. Visually check sub floor of recessed well for any damage and repair as appropriate.
6. Replace the matting sections as originally laid working from the edges to the centre of the installation When installing the
sections at the edge of the frame, be sure to slide them under the frame lips.
7. Perform the weekly cleaning regime previously detailed.
8. Check fastness of all screws on aluminium edging/framing, clean with any commercial aluminium cleaner if required.
